To me, it was great when I sent my first writing task to Jenny. I was very proud of it, but Jenny didn't like it at all and she told me many points to be improved if I wanted to dream of a band 7 in IELTS. At last!! I had found someone who was able to assess my work in the same way as IELTS examiners do, keeping my writing band far away from that 7. Jenny's feedbacks were really useful, so I learnt how to successfuly perform this task and I got my desired mark! Although I had 6 overall before I started my undergraduate courses, English was still a huge problem for me, especially for writing academic reports/papers. So, I decided to improve my writing with professional help. First three months, results were horrible, approximately 4-5 in the exam terms. Recently, I found my results are good, approximately 6-7. I wanted a course which specialised in Academic IELTS, and fortunately found the iPass IELTS website. I chose the Excel course because of the 3 speaking and writing practice tests, plus the aspect of personal tutoring appealed to me. I was happy to find extensive resources on the site which helped me practise for all 4 parts of the exam. Both Jenny and Nigel would promptly reply to my every query, especially as I had only 4 weeks to prep for my exam. I especially liked the fact that their feedback always highlighted “good language” and made necessary corrections whenever I went wrong, I am especially thankful for this because I never really consciously knew what was, as Jenny puts it “good use of colloquism”, so once I realised what it meant, I began to use it for all my assignments. I don’t think any other IELTS course has as interactive a facebook page as iPassIELTS. I was overjoyed when I won 2 Friday contests, because I got feedback for two more assignments, which was very helpful. Because of the repeated speaking practise tests, I had a very good idea of what to expect when I went for the exam; in fact, in Part I of my speaking test, I almost repeated verbatim what Jenny had approved of as “good language”. My IELTS results are as follows: Listening:9.0 Reading:8.0 Writing:7.5 Speaking:8.5 Overall:8.5 Overall, I have scored what I set out to achieve and I am truly grateful for Nigel and Jenny’s dedication to helping aspirants like myself all over the world! In just one month, my writing jumped from 6.5 to 8, all other bands were between 7 and 8.5, with the excel course I could eventually achieve the score I needed. The relatively fast paced listening exercises were really an effective preparation. The same as for the grammar sessions which are extremely essential, not to mention the highly professional and objective writing and speaking feedback, which can really save your time and money.

Although I'm a native speaker of English I was still worried about taking IELTS as I'd heard the standards were very high, especially for the writing test. I was so desperate to get the required band 7 in each module but I wasn't convinced I could do it in such a short space of time. I joined iPass to get advice on my writing skills and was very impressed with the level of feedback I received. Based on my almost 4 years of experience and 13 attempts, I can tell you, that you just can't reach band 7 without an expert help, such as Jenny's or Nigel's. The specific requirements of this exam aren’t built for a regular people to perform them without any guidance… To be more precise, it’s exceptionally true about writing proper almost academic essays in required composition, tone and structure. About one month ago, I made a rush decision to attend the IELTS test. I only left myself less than two weeks to prepare for the test.
