B: I'm a Chinese teacher.

E: And how long have you done this job?

B: Um, I have done it for 10 years.

E: What do you like about your job?

B: My job, I think is very interesting because, um, Chinese is quite difficult language for most of people, but I enjoy it because something can learn this difficult language from me, so I'm satisfied with it.

E: And, what job do you hope to be doing in 10 years time?

B: I hope I can go doing this job forever.

E: Ok, let's talk about free time. How much free time do you have?

B: Normally, I have quite a lot of free time, because I just teach, er, two days a week, in the evening, so, most of time I'm free.

E: And what do you usually do in your free time?

B: Um, normally I can read something, I like read something. I can go to see a film. Sometimes, we can go with my child in the park. (mm-mm) I enjoy play with my son in the park. (mm-mm) Most of time, I spend time with him.

E: Ok, and do you think people these days should have more free time?

B: Yes, I think so, because now the people works more and more and a lot of parents, they arrive to home very late and they haven't time to play with child or stay with his family. Yes, I think so, the people, it work less and more free time.

E: Let's move on to talk about learning languages. What languages can you speak?

B: Ah, I can speak quite well in Spanish, English and Chinese.

E: Ok, and how much do you enjoy learning English?

B: In English, because I started learn English when I was 12 years old. I studied in Middle School in China. (mm-mm) I liked language always. (mm-mm) I like Chinese and English is my first foreign language, um, and I like it very much.

E: Ok, what activity do you find most useful for learning English?

B: Oh, for me it's very special, when I come to, come to España, Barcelona, I can't speak, couldn't speak Spanish. I just can speak, just could speak English, for communication with people. (mm-mm) So, English is very helpful.

E: Uh-huh, I see. And what do you find difficult about learning English.

B: The most difficult for me I think is, er, vocabulary, because every new words for me, I have to learn. (mm-mm) Everything is new, vocabulary, yeah.

Part 2

E: Ok, thank you. Next I'm going to give you a topic and I'd like you to talk about it for one to two minutes. Before you talk, you have one minute to think about what you're going to say. You can make notes if you wish. Do you understand?

B: Ok, yes.

E: Here's some paper and a pencil.I'd like you to describe an interesting city you have visited. You should say:

where it is
how you went there
what you did there
why you found it so interesting

Alright, remember you have one to two minutes, so don't worry if I stop you. Can you start please?

B: Yes, Ok, I think the most interesting city for me is Bath. Bath is in the South-West of England. I went there, the first time I went there was 5 years ago. I went there with my, my husband Chris, because his parent live there, near the Bath, live in the village, out of the Bath. So, the first time we went to the village of Bath, the parents drive us by car, we go, we went there. Um, I think it's the most beautiful place I visit, because it's, er, it's a small city. For me it's quite small and it's very beautiful. It's very clean, it's er, very green, a lot of park. The most beautiful thing for me is the building, old building. Er, the typical building is a circle building in the city. In this city they had a lot of interesting thing. I think the most, er, famous place is, er, this, er, Roman bath. Lot of people come from different, um, country. I meet a lot of Japanese, Chinese, to went there to visit Bath. Another thing is beautiful, in this city they have a small river, in the river there lot of boat. There's a typical English boat, it's lovely, it's made in wood. Most of things, I think, I like the, I like shopping there, shopping there, because all the - sorry - all the shopping, shops, the old building, the tradition shops. I like shopping there because you can find a lot of English tradition things. It's lovely.

E: Ok, thank you. And do you expect to go there again?

B: Yes, yes, I hope I can go there every year, but sometimes I can't.

Part 3

E: Ok, so we've been talking about an interesting city you have visited, and now I'd like to ask you one or two more general questions related to this. Let's consider, first of all, cities and the countryside.

What are the main advantages of living in cities?

B: I think in living in city you have more active things you can do because in the city you can go to the museum, you can go to the cinema, you can go to listen to music very easy, and now for me, it's important because there are a lot of place you can choose for child. (mm-mm) For me, at the moment, it's most important. (mm-mm)

E: And do you think some things are better in the countryside?

B: In the countryside, yes, I think, in the country it's very quiet, and it's, er, it's clean, and the lot so many people, and most important it's quiet. You can have a very quiet life in countryside. You have more space. You have, can go to have a walk. (mm-mm)

E: Why do you think so many people choose to live in cities?

B: I think because it's more comfortable. You can do everything with more easy.

E: And do you think cities are more suitable for young people to live in than for old people?

B: I think so. It's very good for young people because if you want to learn something you can find everything in the city, but if you are living in the village, something it's difficult, because for example, in Barcelona, the people can learn Chinese. You can find Chinese course in the city but if you live out of Barcelona it's very difficult to find a class to learn Chinese, for example.

E: Do you agree that transport is the biggest problem in cities?

B: Um, I think, I think yes, because it can be better, can be doing better. In Barcelona, transport, public transport is quite well, but in most big cities it's terrible, because it's too big. You have to go to another place, to spend a lot of time in transport. (mm-mm)

E: And in what ways could city life be improved for everyone?

B: Sorry?

E: In what ways could city life be improved, improved for everyone?

B: Let me think, sorry, ok, I think in te city we can improve, for example, the pollution, the problem of pollution, because now everybody want to have a car, but I don't think it's the best way for the people live in the city. If the people use more public transport, the city will be more clean, it's better for the people living in the city.

E: Ok, thank you. That is the end of the speaking test.

B: Thank you.

E: Bye.

B: Bye
